Nintendo May Enable Two Wii U Controllers At Once After All

nintendobooth-003-1959One of the big disappointments at E3 was the news that Nintendo's weird new console, the Wii U, would only support one of their tablet controllers at once. But recent losses have made them reconsider their situation and the opportunities presented by allowing a second controller to be used in the home — and sold at stores. We were initially skeptical of the new system, as rumor after rumor piled up and eventually were mostly proven to be true. A six-inch touchscreen with built-in motion and traditional controls — a big gamble, but not as big as only allowing one to be used at a time. The Wii was all about being in the same room as people and flailing about like crazy. Taking that away removes the keystone from the arch and it all comes tumbling down, revealing the last-last-generation graphics and laggy controls.

comments Bank of America and FIA Services ... - Free Money Finance

In my last credit card change update, I told how Bank of America was already making things difficult for me -- and I didn't even have a card with them yet. Well a few things have transpired since then, so I thought I'd give you an update. Here's the status:

  • I did get approved finally for the Citi card that offers 2% cash back on all purchases for the first year (then goes to 1%). It also has 5% bonus levels, but they aren't in great categories. Since the card is my third-tier card in my current strategy, I really just need it for the 2% cash back as a back-up anyway.

  • Once I got the card above, I changed my auto-pay accounts (again for the second time in a couple months since my credit card number was stolen).

  • At that point, I called FIA Services to cancel the 2% "Schwab" card I had with them as well as cancel getting the new Bank of America card that was replacing it. The rude person who answered the phone informed me that he could not do anything with the Bank of America card -- that I would need to talk to Bank of America. I told him the last person I had talked to (when I called in a month ago) said they could help me, but he said they couldn't (and he was quite blunt about it.)

  • In addition, he said that if I canceled the FIA Services card that I would forfeit my current rewards due. What???? Since I have a $3,000 balance with them at 2%, this meant that I'd lose $60 by trying to cancel a card that's going to expire anyway. So I figured I'd just keep the FIA card and let it expire on its own. Not sure why I wanted to cancel it anyway at this point since it's about ready to self-destruct.

  • He told me the Bank of America card has already been issued (how he knew that and yet couldn't help me cancel the account is anyone's guess), so I'll simply cancel it when I get it (supposedly) any day now.

Is it just me or are some companies making it as hard as possible to do business with them?

Modern Warfare 3 review roundup

Modern Warfare 3 is finally Oscar Mike. So what are the critics saying about the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise??

In the last few weeks, some top-notch video games have hit the market, Uncharted 3, Gears of War 3, Batman: Arkham City, and Battlefield 3 (well, at least the multiplayer half is great). But it's a safe bet that no 2011 game will be hotter than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the latest installment in Activision's storied first-person shooter franchise. So what do the critics have to say about Modern Warfare 3? Let's go to the scorecards.?

The story

"The bigger-than-life plot touches down in London, Paris, Berlin and Prague, as well as Siberia and Somalia," writes Mike Snider of USA Today. "Players will be pleased to again be teamed up with returning characters, Task Force 141 members Capt. John Price and John 'Soap' MacTavish, who at the end of?Modern Warfare 2?was wounded while dispatching a bad guy, renegade U.S. Gen. Hershel Shepherd.?There's still work for Price and Soap to do because the ultranationalist Russian force remains on U.S. soil. The game involves tracking down its leader, Vladimir Makarov.?What ensues is a tour of duty that lasts about six to 10 hours -- depending on how you play-- of adrenaline-surging action."

The story, part two

"The plot serves as a showcase for the spectacular setpieces, the excellent weapon balance, but also the futility of war," writes Ashton Raze of the Telegraph. "There are brief moments of reflection, the sense of loss and rage and futility conveyed surprisingly well for a game which is all about shooting people in the face. It doesn't hide the fact that in this context, it's making wargames fun, but never tries to glorify this either. The goal here seems not to shock but to impress, but the game isn't afraid to take the occasional time out to remind you that yes, war isn't very nice.?It's comfortably the best Call of Duty campaign yet, with consistent high points and none of the lows that have occasionally punctuated past games."

The story, part three

"Still, Modern Warfare 3's campaign suffers from a run of the mill story and the patented Call of Duty monster closet syndrome, a common shooter ailment that occurs when infinitely spawning enemies pour from around corners, doors and stairs without end... The story is difficult to follow as usual," notes Anthony Gallegos of IGN,?"and while it does wrap up the arc begun by the previous Modern Warfare games, it isn't ultimately all that interesting or satisfying. Moments of emotional weight fell flat as I found it difficult to muster up feelings of sadness about the death of one named soldier after witnessing the countless deaths of hundreds of other Americans."

Humphries to stay in new Kardashian show

NBC

Kris Jenner cuts to the chase with Jay Leno.

By Randee Dawn

With the NBA still locked out, it comes as a relief to know that Kris Humphries will still have a place in the public eye. His appearances on "Kourtney & Kim Take New York" will not be edited out, according to his soon-to-be-ex-in-law Kris Jenner, a producer on the E! show.

Jenner appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Tuesday night; when Leno asked if Humphries would be cut from the show -- which wrapped before his ill-fated wedding to Kim Kardashian in October -- she told him that wasn't happening.

"No, no, no, no," she said. "You know what? We decided a long time ago that when we first started doing these shows that we were going to be really just raw and not edit ourselves, and we don't take stuff out.... So I think everybody will get a real fascinating glimpse into the kids' journey in New York City."

Made all the more fascinating by the healthy dose of schadenfreude that will no doubt accompany many viewers as they tune in for this particular "journey."

Are you more likely to watch "Kourtney & Kim Take New York" knowing that Kris will still be a part of the narrative? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page!

Mexico says key figure in Tijuana drug gang caught (AP)

MEXICO CITY ? The Mexican military says it has detained the principle lieutenant in the Arellano Felix cartel that controlled drug trafficking in Tijuana for two decades.

Army spokesman Col. Ricardo Trevilla says 34-year-old Juan Francisco Sillas Rocha was captured in the border city across from San Diego, California.

He said Monday that Sillas allegedly reported directly to Fernando Sanchez Arellano, a nephew of the original Arellano Felix brothers who now runs the gang. Trevilla said Sillas was supposed to take on the Sinaloa Cartel in 2008, when Mexico's most powerful cartel stepped up efforts to take over Tijuana routes.

That battle is partly to blame for the spike in Tijuana violence between 2007 and 2009.
