Take The Chance To Enjoy A Camping Trip - Travel

It wasn?t that many generations ago that people had to dig a well or haul their own water, they made their own heat and light and cooked their food over open fires. They erected their own shelters, be it log cabin, tepee, lean to or yurt and they procured their own food from the land that they could call their own.

In this modern world of today, water is readily available at the turn of the tap, temperature is controlled with a dial, flick a switch and let there be light and cooking is accomplished with electricity or easily controlled gas. Man?s shelters are now constructed professionally, with all the amenities, at great expense and will usually take a working lifetime to be paid for. The food that we eat is procured, packaged and sold by somebody else.

Why is it then, that when the workweek is done or when summer vacation begins, a great many people, families, individuals, friends and couples give up the comfort of modern living to head to the mountains, lakes, seashore and streams to live much as their ancestors did hundreds of years ago?

Each spring and summer, thousands of people load up their vehicles with loads of camping equipment and head to the wilderness or at least some semblance of it.

They take the kids and dogs; they take toys and keep the implements of life down to the barest necessities. Modern man in an ancient world is an anachronism that plays out over and over.

For families, the yearly camping trip may be the only time that the entire brood can be together for more than a weekend at a time. It?s a time for bonding and interacting, working together to get down to the basics and make it work. The kids can learn how to properly pitch a tent and safely build a fire and can learn survival skills and cavort with nature in the raw. Add to this, water toys, bows and arrows, wilderness games and you have good, clean, family fun.

As a romantic interlude, a camping trip may just be what Cupid ordered. A finely thought out camp in a romantic natural setting can sharpen the arrows of love. A well set table beneath the stars, candlelit with linen tablecloth, a tiny gleaming campfire and fine fare cooked over an open fire may be the spark that sets the flame.

It?s time to go camping and feed your soul.
